    Not sure; xenias ship poorly anyway. But the question is: is that slime coating a threat to themselves or to other corals? If it's anything like an alcoholic choking on their own vomit, then they're probably right. I think xenia are beautiful corals but I've never had good luck with any species of them.

    Sorry for your loss man...I know our xenia pulse like crazy as long as they are not bombarded with flow...They prefer moderate flow and medium to high light. They also do not like being moved....Once they are situated it is best not to move them. They do move on their own and about 1/2 of our xenia have moved from a large rock onto the overflow...When they are moving the "stem" will appear to be melting, but this is perfectly normal. Xenia are not the easiest coral to keep, but when they acclimate in a tank they grow like weeds, at least that has been the case in our DT...
