 Hey guys! I haven't started a salt water tank yet. But I got a set up from a buddy of mine. It came with a 72 gallon bow front, large eheim canister filter, a protien skimer,an undergravel filter thing, heater, about 60 lb's of gulf live rock. Can I start a set up with this stuff??

Also, I was checking out the Tom Pro Series 150 Saltwater Wet/Dry Kit w/ Skimmer. Is this a complete system and would I need the canister filter I already have?

    Thanks for your time! ;D

IMO wet/drys are going out of style. also loose the undergravel filter, you don't need a canster filter, i don't use one. i guess you can use if for chemical filtration like activated carbon. if you want a reef tank you need lighting, but right now you have enough for a fish only tank. also i would get some powerheads

First off welcome to 3 reef. You will find very knowledgable peolpe how are always willing to help. It sounds like to me that you would not need your canister with that wet/dry system. I don't know that specific system though! I am sure someone will know it though! Hope your live rock is in water if you haven't set up yet! Otherwise you will have to cook it and start over!

Actually, there was a problem with the live rock. he put it in totes with standing water like 2 years ago. We went to get it today, and someone had taken the totes and put the rocks in grocery bags (they are dry). Are they still salvigable??

And here is a couple pix of the Tom Pro Series 150 Saltwater Wet/Dry Kit w/ Skimmer.

they are totally dry now after 2 years? I would say yes it is dead! But still use the rock, it will eventually become "live" again it will just take time.
