noob refugium led ?

I am going to be purchasing this light , I wanted to go with the 10k one will that be to much for a 8 gallon fuge? You can choose from 6500, 10,000 or 14000k.

You want the 6500k for growing plants like chaeto. 10k will work but 6500 will work better.

I would not recommend it. I used to use the magnetic LED refugium light made for the biocube on my fuge and it sucked. It has 6500k LEDs and the macro algae barely grew, if at all. Nitrates were no better than 10ppm when I was using that. But recently I changed out that light for a simple clamp light from Lowe's and a 5100k florescent light bulb and the chaeto and caulerpa is growing like crazy! So I'm just saying that its much cheaper and sure fire to work if you get the clamp light with a florescent bulb. I paid like 15 bucks for the current fuge light set up.

I would not even do that.. I had the JBJ Nano-Glo and it couldn't grow anything quick..

I now currently use this and its wonderful also really cheap.

yeah, in my post I said that the jbj nano glo sucks ass. Nothing better than just a reflector with a light bulb.

I use an led 5100k from from Home Depot. Works great.
