What is the difference in a 30/40g and a 30/40g breeder? Why are they called breeders? Google is the smartest person I know, but seems pretty dumb when it comes to this question.

They are longer/wider horizontally Vs. taller/skinnier vertically. i don't know why they are called breeders. For instance, why is the 29g long called a "long"? One would think it would be a 29g Tall or a 29g breeder.

Its called breeder in general cuz of more bottom surface for rocks and plants for egglaying, breeding freshwater fish don't occupy the open water in taller tanks. But also terrorial fish like breeders for more area.

Thanks to both of you. It makes sense. Now if Petco would have that $1/gallon sale I'd have me a new 40g breeder! ;D;D;D
