    Hey Guys,

My tank is going along cycling nicely at the moment thanks to some great advice from many of the reefers on here.

I wanted to tell people the fish I want to keep and whether this ok?

First off I have a 55g tank with LR and I want to down the track keep some corals and anemones.

    Here goes:
    - 2 ocellaris clowns
    - Flame Angelfish
    - 2 blue/green chromis
    - bi-colour dottyback
    - Diamond Watchman Goby
    - Firefish (If I get rid of one it would be this one) or could I swap this for a 6 line wrasse?

    Total of 8 fish.

What does everyone reckon? Obviously I would put them in fairly staggered, not all at the one time, probably 2 at a time.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ryan.

I have 2 blue/green chromis. I started with 3 and they killed the other one. I kind of regret putting them in there. They are aggressive towards each other. The flame angel may not be reef compatible.

Firefish and Six line Wrasses jump, so you'll need a top. Six Line Wrasses can also be aggressive. Flame Angels might nip at corals. My Chromis haven't bothered each other since I bought them about 2 months ago. The rest sounds good. It would be cool if you got a Pistol Shrimp for the Diamond Goby because they have a symbiotic relationship in which while one sleeps, the other stands guard at their hole. When the Goby is out, the shrimp will keep digging the hole and moving things in/out of it. If you want the Goby to be really active, then don't get the shrimp.

    - 3 blue/green chromis
    - bi-colour dottyback
    - Diamond Watchman Goby

This is what I'd go for. Get the chromis that has no dark on its shoulders. And make sure you add the fish in the order good to bad behavior. And you should be alright.

You probably had added the chromis that have dark shoulders (which are really aggressive)

Thanks guys really good food for thought. I think I will go for a similar list to what NOOZE suggested and will definately do a little bit more searching about the pistol shrimp.

    Thanks heaps!

Does the diamond goby do the symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimps? For some reason i thought that goby didn't.

What species of diamond watchmen goby are you talking about? One species is a sand sifter and isn't a good beginner fish while the others are easy to care for and live with pistol shrimps. I wouldn't get the bi-color dottyback either, orchid dottybacks tend to be more peaceful, add it last just in case. The flame angelfish might nip and pick on corals too. Hope This Helps :)

This is the Diamond Watchman Goby I mentioned before:
Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Diamond Watchman Sand Sifter Goby

I have also though about adding a clean up crew:

    -1 Sally Light Foot Crab
    - 2 Emerald Crab
    - 5 Dwarf Blue Leg Hermit Crab
    - 5 Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab
    - 2 Cleaner Shrimp
    - 1 Peppermint Shrimp
    - 1 Coral Banded Shrimp
    - 1 Pistol Shrimp
    - 1 Sea Cucumber
    - 1 Red star fish

What do you guys reckon about this clean up crew list as well as the current fish list I have?

skip the sea cucumber. if it meats your powerhead or dies it will nuke your tank. you want more snails and less hermits. I personally don't like coral banded and once they get large they can become aggressive.

get the diamond goby after the tank is mature 4-6 months or it will starve. you might want to look into the starry or midas blenny instead awesome algae eater that really has some great personality. they also need mature tanks but I added a starry blenny about 2-3 months after the tank cycled and he has plenty to eat.
