Hey guys, had to get my hands back on a salt water tank again. A few months away from it has proven to be way too long. I bought a biocube for my ex-girlfriend last year, it was going well when we were together, but things change and we split. Since then the tank has gone through a few major changes. She told me she couldnt take care of it anymore, and thus, Norg. had another salt water tank... Haha. This tank is more of a learning experience for my mom than anything though. We plan on setting up a larger reef sometime in the near future so she would like to get the basics down before jumping into it with a larger tank. With the tank I got a pair of clownfish and a few pounds of liverock. The tank was in terrible condition when we recieved it, but about an hours worth of scraping took care of most of the algaes. The back side of the tank is still not looking too hot however... Today my mom and I went to a lfs and picked up a tiny yellow clown goby, and a small bangai cardinal. Both acclimated well and seem to be getting used to the tank. Corals and extra rock will be added in the coming weeks as well.

    Pictures....

FTS Notice the nastyness on the back... The entire tank was covered with it.

Not a very good picture of the bangai cardinal, but a picture none the less.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Perfect fish for that system. I really like the biocubes for their simplicity.

Definitely. I love the look as well. It will be another fun saltwater adventure. My mom has already called me a few times keeping me updated with how the water parameters are, and good news! The nitrates are dropping and there are almost untracable nitrites. That is a huge improvement from the time I got the tank. I am suprised the clowns made it considering how neglected the tank was... But they are happy and healthy now so thats all that matters.

buying a partner something you like, was a very smart move IMHO (Sorry if this offends anyone, but I call it as I see it)

congrats on being reunited with the tank, which looks great

Haha. Thanks Steve. I bought it as something that we could do together. And when we were together it served its purpose well and we set up a nice little reef together. Glad to have it back though.

Today was a good day for the tank. Tests show that nitrates are almost nonexistant now. All other levels are good. No phosphates either. So I added some corals from a friends tank that were not doing very well. Hopefully we can nurse these corals back to full health.

I want to add more rock soon. Today we also added a palythoa frag, some xenia, another acan, some green birdsnest, and an emerald crab. A few days ago I also added various snails for a clean up crew in addition to the few hermits in the tank.
