The kitty litter I used is an all natural clay. Its the exact same a mineral mud made specially for refugiums. It is also very porous but over time will help replenish minerals in the water. Only 2.50 for a 25 pound bag too. I was happy about that. haha.

Hey guys. Im going to try to fix the sound of my gurgling overflow. To do this I could drill a small hole in the PVC elbows behind the bulkhead leading to my fuge and put 1/4 inch airline tubing to let the air escape right? I want to double check before I drill any holes into my plumbing. But its very loud and needs to be fixed.

Shameless bump! I want to fix this tonight. Otherwise it may have to wait a while as I will be getting busy with work again soon.

This is how mine is set up, so I would assume it would make yours quiter as well.

Well I dont wanna be responsible but when I had the 29 with glass-holes overflow, it was predrilled exactly where you are talking about. And when I was kinda messing around and I plug the airline with my finger tip and it got loud and when I let go, it got quiet. I hope this means something to you :)

I have a glass holes kit on my set up and when I put my finger over the hole it does the same. Its because when its covered its creating full siphon and really moving some water. so then the bulkhead becomes exposed because my pump cant keep up and makes the gurgle sound.

try using a micro mesh net and put it wherever the water is causing that gurgle or too fast of flow, this helped me with micro bubbles, extra particle filtration, and a more calming noise effect. but im not sure if your set up or your issue will be solved by this, need pictures with red circles to see what your talking about :)
