Might be your municiple water source. Too. The higher end RO membranes are a 98% rejection rate, and in many parts of the country that can leave you wih detectable PO4 levels.

I think running new salt through gfo is not a bad idea though.

I had a great time @ Norgs and I did come home with three nice corals. I'll post pics later on. But here are some pics of what we did, hope you all enjoy.

I am using these two 50 gallon poly tanks and a 30 gallon brute garbage can to brew my salt water. With aerator, pump, heater of course. I cleaned everything very well before I added any water to start brewing salt with. They were used by another reefer without any previous problems as well.

I really doubt that my PO4 levels are that high from my water source. I know despite reading 0TDS I still have some but those numbers are probably negligible. The phosphate readings coming from my water storage is way too high to be normal. I think my best bet is to run GFO on the incoming water for water changes. Either way Ill be posting a thread on it today and hopefully ordering a reactor to strip the water of phosphates before doing more water changes.

I had to run a reactor with GFO in my fresh SW mixing container due to my salt mix being very high in PO4. I use Brute trashcans as well, and have not had a problem with PO4 leaching from them...just that bad batch of salt. No problems since, and I've run 500 gallons of new SW through it with 0.02 PO4 consistently on my Hanna (typical I've found in synthetic salt mixes).

I had thought this too with the bad batch of salt, but then we mixed a control bucket of saltwater and tested it... It was much lower. .03PPM.

Thanks man! We got a decent amount done, Ill be getting more done in the next week with the system as well as organizing and cleaning the mess that is my basement. The "lab" was previously used as storage so moving everything that was in there out has proven to be a lengthy process considering that 99% of the stuff that was in there wasnt mine. So I need approval from my dad before I touch anything. lol
