Well a year goes fast and if you've seen my cube on its second year, well its first year was not that different so patience is key and it grows fast. Depends what you put in it two. Your lighting is important too. I had only the original compact lighting in there, and it did ok.

i plan on upgrading the lighting system pretty soon. within two months. im not exactly sure on what im upgrading to, but i will definitly research the topic well before pulling the trigger. my lights are on for about 11 to 12 hours a day and algae hasnt been an issue, i might even go a little bit longer to increase growth. not sure yet. i dose iodide and calcium as well.

Careful with iodine, i would even bother if you do water chages you don't need to dose that. Ca ok but iodine you can kill everything in your tank with that, becarefull.

i dose like a drop every couple days. i have noticed it really makes my zoas pop with color and stay open even after the light is off. so i have been very careful.

Hey guys. Yesterday was a busy night for me, but in a good way. I ended up setting up new light, not like it was tough or anything, getting a cleaner shrimp and margarita snail, setting up my diy auto top off system, went christmas shopping and went to Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The last two were off topic, but whatever. Good times. :p
    PICTURES FOR THE PEOPLE!

The tank with new light. Cleaned up my desk as well. You can see the ATO on the top right of the shelf on the desk. Working great so far. Having to add a cup or two of water a day was getting to be kind of annoying.

The filtration. I realized I didnt have a picture up of this. On the right is an Azoo Palm filter that came with the picotope tank. Inside it is carbon and a makeshift phosphate clearmax pad. On the left is an aqueon 10 gal filter, it houses the heater the standard filter pad.

A close up of the ATO and everything that I dose.

And last but definitly not least, my cleaner shrimp.

I like it alot. It will be some peace of mind once I have it totally figured out. I just have to make sure it is putting the right amount of water into the tank. But no work this weekend :) So I will watch it with a keen eye.

Just keep a eye on the ATO... I have mine pretty dialed in but it takes a little while to get it perfect... Cheap is my favorite word... LOL...

Lol. Cheap is nice, but it is doing the same thing that an expensive ato system would do, so why not save the money? I think economical is a better word. :) ahaha
