Hey i got a foxface that was recently infected with bacterial infection and ich and velvet. Today my QT is going to get emptied and the fish put back in my DT....there all better... I think. I wanted to ask if others thought this was normal for a foxface....other people's i see generally stay all yellow on their bodies unless spooked or made angry. Mine always has some markings on him, but is never all yellow. Today i saw him change his colors on his sides to look almost silver or white.....anyone else observed anything like this?

I don't want to put sick fish back in my DT so of their is something still wrong i'll wait.

It could very well be part Fiji Foxface or part Magnificent Foxface.

mine is the same... its a big chicken everytime i walk remotely close to the tank it changes. it almost always has some spots. I attributed it to always being spooked. it is getting better and the spots that appeared to always be there dissapeared sligthly.

As I always advise here, the use of Marine-Max by Tropical Science, will prevent disease. From my experience with my Foxes, they have that schitzoid tendency and scoot into the rock work if you look at the tank wrong! They get scraped and cut from that behavior. I always try to keep some Stress Coat handy and dose when I see one of the fish needing care. Another thing is, my fox always alerted me to my ALK getting low. It would be stressed for a day or so and when I checked, sure enough, ALK was a tad low.

yeah i've heard alot of goodthings about that marine max... i cant find any localy, but i ordered some 2 days ago just for the same reason. I don't understand how a fish could know the alkalinity is low or why it would even react to low alk, but maybe it was just a coincidence.

I attached a picture of the foxface when it was in my hospital tank. The way it looks is how it always looks when someone is near the tank or if you look at it the wrong way. The color change i saw was right after the lights turned on he went from all camo, to silver to being yellow. it was the weirdest thing cause it lasted a matter of seconds. was thinking it might have been the color it is when it goes through the transition from camo to yellow
