I've been home from work for 2 hours now, and my firefish is still hiding/sleeping. i know he likes to hide/sleep at night as soon as lights are out which is about 10, and then comes out in the morning probably around 8ish is when i get up, lights don't turn on until 3 when i get home, he's usually out and about swimming but today it's hiding during the day.

Is this normal for firefish, do yours do this? i thought they were supposed to be active fish.

From time to time mine would and will do the same thing. Sometime they give me a scare, so I would just feed the tank and then they will come out to eat.

You can tease him to come out just put one flake in the water so he can smell food, sure he will come out then.

i only feed frozen, so i think i'll give him a little bit longer then put a small amount of food in the tank, hopefully the clowns wont eat it all, their pigs :)

Girly name?? sounds like Arnold. But anyway the other fish are probably pickin on him so that is why he is hiding. Try a name like Turk or Mack maybe that will help

haha turk and mack aren't girly names :D and as far as the fish picking on him, i was worried about my female clown as she constantly pics on the male but i have never seen her go after the firefish as she is to busy going after the male clown, she actually seems to like the firefish
