So they got the tank all cleaned up for me, I went to take look. There is a chip on one edge of the front glass panel. There isn't any shatter marks. But it kinda worries me. return pump went bad so he replaced w/ a quiet one 4000. pump on skimmer was bad so he replaced with a seaclone skimmer. The price hasn't changed. Still $400 w/ stand, canopy, a small sump(wet dry filter), skimmer, return pump. What are your thoughts.

 

Skip. Front panel will have to be replaced. Pump is under par for that size tank. Skimmer is VERY under par.
So you will at least need a new front panel, and skimmer. To do the tank properly, you will also need return pumps, and a sump/fuge.
What kind of lights did it have?

 

I need to agree, you don't want to inherit any problems.

I would pass. there are better deals out there. Be patient.

 

If its s simple chip on the very corner where the side and front panels join then I see no problems unless its cracked back into the seam ? I have chipped more corners then I care to recall. Its like a smooth rock chip in a windshiled then its fine . Take 325.00 to 350.00 and say here is what I'll pay . see what he does . Cash has a funny effect on people who want out and have been trying to sell .

 

Just to add on what T and the others have said, ask him to fill it with FW for you. I also have a 90g with a small chip on the right side outer edge of the glass and have had no problems for yrs. I agree with T when he said to offer a lower price. The RP and the skimmer are junk. If I where you and the tank doesnt leak, I would offer him $250-$300. for the tank, stand, canopy and sump. He can keep the RP and skimmer. Luna
