Hey guys/gals Ive had a 29G Biocube in the past so Im not a total newb to the sport. However this time I would like to go reef only. In the last tank I had the fish pretty much just seemed to hide unless it was time to eat. 2 tank raised clowns, 1 blue/green chromis and a bi color blenny.

I did have a scooter blenny(or so the LFS told me, now I know its actually a dragonette) that I did see pretty much 24/7 and very lucky that he would eat frozen food, and LOTS of it.......LOL

I started the new tank last Sunday, Feb 3. Put in 10 pounds live/cured and 15 dry rock(estimated) and a bag of the sealed up "live sand"

Just checked the parameters tonight with an API kit:
    PH 8.4
    AM .50
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0

Just wanted to say hi, Ive been reading a lot of the boards to try and get a good plan for my new venture.

My other passions are goin fast on motorcycles, and photography(total newb on that too), I need one more expensive hobby.........LMAO

    Welcome home!

My fish are nearly always out, ot in and out of the rocks.

Reef as in coral only? Could be cool

Yes, I am gong corals only this time around....Im looking for more 24/7 interest and color.

Can anyone identify the brand of tank I have. The inlet portion has 6 sections from the top to the bottom, and the back part of the tank only has 2 sections.

I have searched the net with no luck, thanks in advance.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome to 3reef,

Perhaps posting an image of the whole tank including the overflow would help to ID the tank.

for whats it worth and from what i know a tank with only corals is actually not that healthy for the corals them selves, they need a fish a for the organic matter produced by them. dont take my word on this as there are many more people on here who know much more about hard corals than me

I will get on that, good idea

I wasnt aware of that, but, if I have to have a fish or two thats cool. I just dont want to pay for room and board for five or six fish that only show up when they are hungry........:)

Any and all input about my plans is always welcomed

    EDIT PIX:

The second pic is a bit darker on flickr than it was on the camera.....if you look closely you can see the tank is divided at halfway between.

+1 I have always heard fish waste is the best coral food. Seriously. Go into any fish store to there frag tanks. Every tank will have at least a couple of fish, usually Tangs or other algae eaters. And this fish are not listed for sale ;)
