I need some advice, please. I was out of town for two and a half days and during that time we had a massive heat wave. When we returned our tank temperature was off the chart....into the 90's!!!!!! (We haven't bought a chiller because up until now it wasn't neccessary considering what a cool climate we live in). Miraculously all of our fish and snails and crustaceans survived! We are having problems with our Frog Spawn and small pink brain coral. Our Frog Spawn looks like it's trying to hang in there, but it definitely is injured. Our brain coral looks a little crusty. What can I do? I know it needs some TLC, but I don't know what. This all happened a week ago, now the water temp is back down to normal. Any advice would be great......I feel like a terrible tank mommy. BTW: Can we all have a moment of silence for my friends' tanks.....they were out of town during the heat wave and the power went out for three days.....it's a total loss, everything perished.:-[

Wow, not a good thing to have happen! Too bad! As for your tank, try to get things back as close to where they were before you left. A water change, test the water parameters, clean the filter/skimmer to ensure it is functioning correctly.

What do the corals look like? Your Brain coral may have some detritus accumulating on it that may need to be blown off.

Sorry about yours and your friends tank. I'm so scared of that happening to me I bought a controller that will page me if anything happens. Might not help if I'm a couple of states away but at least I can have someone go over and start the generator for a while. Nice to have family and friends around.

The first picture is of my green fungia who was harrassed and started to die, I've been slowly nursing him back to health, but I think this is the best I'll be able to do. The second picture is my pink brain coral, looking rather crusty, and finally my frog spawn who doesn't look dead, but hasn't come out in a little over a week. Any help/advice would be great!

Crap...almost Murphy's law that this stuff happens while you are away from home couple of days...

But sounds like you got thru power outage pretty well.

Frogspawn is pretty durable...It should get tired of pouting in few days and start expanding again.

    Good Luck!

Also send sympathies to friend about loss. [IMG]
