Zoo Med Ultra Sun Daylight Compact Fluorescent BulbThe Ultra Sun is a 6,500K high intensity trichromatic full spectrum daylight lamp. With a CRI rating of 98, it provides excellent color rendition for optimum viewing of your freshwater or marine fish and live corals with a balanced full spectrum of visible light and UVA. Ideal for all freshwater and marine fish as well as reef tanks.

I bought 2 of the described light bulbs in the paragraph above and 2 zoo med lamps for my 20 gallon deep reef/fish tank. Will these be strong enough to support soft corals? i now these did very well in supporting my planted/cichlid tank but i dont now if these will be acceptable for salt?

also my filtration is a 55 gallon fluval sponge filter and a 20 gallon hang on back filter i removed the carbon and im going to put live sand inside and ill throw some cheito in the back of it so ill have a tiny tiny mini refugium ill be throwin a light on the back of it

They will support softies and maybe LPS but they are not the right spectrum, for a reef tank you're better off getting a t5 or PC with actinic and 10000k daylight.

    6500k will promote algae growth.

i would say it is fine but if its a 20 deep it might only be alright for softies and easy lps, i could be wrong though

also 6500k is fine for corals in fact corals grow fastest under that spectrum however they wont have the colors you would get from say a 10000k or higher so if you dont mind that they lack color a bit then you should be fine
