    Hey All,

I was looking at my fug last night and found it odd that I was not see any copepods. Really did think to much about it because my sump light is on a reverse cycle with the tank light and copepods hide during the day. So, this morning I looked at my fug and with the light off I found no pods. Looked around the internet really did find much info. Well, I had a long day at work and again check the fug to find dead bristle worms. The tank looks good, the fish look happy and healthy. Please help. Thank you

It is a 72 bow w/ a 20g sump and fug. The system has been up and running for 4 years. The sump was only add about 6 month ago. I am running a mag 5(return pump) and Hydro 3 and 4, and a PM red line skimmer. The main tank has live sand and some live rock. The sump / fug has live rock, live sand and cheto. For fish I have

    1 powder blue (Small)
    1 Naso Tang (small)
    1 yellow tang (small)
    1 butterfly
    1 corris wrasse
    1 mandarin
    2 black clowns
    1 cleaner wrasse

Since I installed the sump my pod pop grow large, that is when the mandarin was given to me has a gift. But up until two days ago i could see pod running on the sand, glass, heaters, rock and cheto.

You have 4 fish fighting for pods, the wrasses, mandarin and butterfly, your best bet is to add pods.

ok....but why are his bristleworms dying? they don't need pods to survive.

How long have you had that mandarin. I doubt he will survive much longer even with the addition of pods. That is a lot of foo fighting.

Ummm, how are the fish eating all the pods in the fuge??? I don't believe the fish are the answer to this question. They would definitely deplete the population of pods in the DT (especially with 4 pod-eating fish...way too many), but not the fuge.

What are you feeding your pods? Adding any phytoplankton to the sump once in a while?

Edit: And as one further aside, please forgive my saying, but your tank is seriously over-stocked for a 72g. Right now those tangs and butterfly may be small, but as they grow they will definitely need a much bigger space (like 120g minimum for 3 tangs).

I understand that the tank is over-stocked but right now my house is being built and a 180 has been purchased and will be put together in a short amount of time. I was never told to feed my pods, but I start to. I still don't understand how the entire pod population crashed overnight. I most have had hundreds in the fug.
