    Hey all

I have this interesting coral I got on a piece of LR I put in 3 weeks after my cycle was complete.

It's interesting because during the day it gets the size of a .25 cent piece and at night it shrinks to the size of a pen top. The colour is deep purple and has little bumps over the surface.

Yes, although they can handle moderate flow and can be placed higher. If it doesn't like the conditions it may move somewhere it finds more comfortable.

I have not seen any shrooms like this tho, I have looked - I know there are many types. Does anyone know if the bumps/ bubbles will get bigger? Also are shrooms toxic to other corals? I will be adding my first additions over the holiday break.

2in10 - I guess the coral is happy since it has not moved in 3 weeks :) So I guess I won't move it for now.

I don't believe mushrooms are toxic. They can quickly grow over corals choking them out.

I've got a green one like this. Easy to take care of, and grows quick. I have it on a solo rock by it self, to avoid it overgrowing other corals.

They can sting corals like anemones, but they are fairly peaceful if nothing is nearby. Give the mushroom more time to grow, it might show a more recognizable form. Since it came on your live rock it might not be common in the aquarium trade. What type of corals are you looking to get?
