Everything looks pretty good. Since you are looking to do softies and LPS your lighting will work great with the actinics. If you wanted SPS I would suggest changing the actinics to a blue bulb. You should get alk and mag test kits also. You will not need to dose alk, ca and mag very heavily with your current coral choices but will want to keep the parameters in the optimum range. You will want your alk at 7 to 12, ca at 380 to 450 and mg at 1250 to 1500. Mg close to 1500 promotes greater stability in the ca and alk parameters.

    Thank you very much
I will be getting a mag and alk testing kit over the holidays. I do plan to go sps but not till I have a year or more so under my belt.

Definitely look into 2 part dosing solutions from the start if you are planning on doing SPS. Bulk Reef Supply has the best prices for 2 part supplies, you will just need to mix everything yourself.

If you do not have a ro/di water filtration unit I would definitely look into getting one as soon as possible. It will make keeping corals much easier.

I do use ro/di water - I started with tap (before I knew better) with tds of 180. So you can just imagine the wonderful algae bloom I had to deal with for the first 3 weeks. I think my refugium helped a lot.
Thanks for the advice I will check them out for sure. I just hope the ship to Canada

Now, that is smart!! Of course you could start with corals right away, like I did, and risk killing them as many times as I did, or you could gain experience and ask good questions like you have been. You're doing great, bud!!

And yes, i agree that may be a hairy shroom of some sort. Or it could also be one of those small very dark mini nems with colored tips. Time will tell.

    Good luck! ;)

Thanks Magnus. I have asked a lot of questions for sure. I am big on reading and learning as much as possible.
I know have more knowledge already then my first lfs (but that does not mean much)

If it was not for 3reef - I would be cursing this obsession LOL
