As i was reading pufferchicks thread on returns and warranties on skimmers, do you think while describing a problem to them and describing its history, you tell them you ran it in vinigar, that it would by any means "void" the warranty? In any company, do you think they would either use that as an excuse and actually believe in it "voiding" the warranty? I guess my question is, do companies reccommend doing that or is it just a home remedy?

Unless a company was trying to get out of a warranty, they really aren't going to care. Acetic acid reacts with build-up of Calcium carbonate. It doesn't have any impact on the components a protein skimmer is made of.

Yea, I wouldn't say anything, as it really doesn't make a difference, as inwall said. It won't break the skimmer, and there is no need to bring it up. There really is not a need to mention it so I wouldn't worry. Running the skimmer in vinegar would be more beneficial than detrimental as it will aid in cleaning it.

In my best estimation, any company that would be that "chicken****" would not be around for very long, especially in this trade. The word gets around quick!
