This is my fuge/sump on my 70G Predator tank...no baffles...just a lot of rock a lot of mangrove shoots (just added), chaeto (just added) and a BIG skimmer....the good thing is, is that this fuge/sump breeds pods like there is NO tomorrow...they thrive in the rock with very low flow, so i put filter padding in and leave it for a week or so..they colonize to it..and then i move it to the reef to keep it stocked ;D I added the mangroves to try and eat some of the nitrates because the predator tank has MESSY eaters and poopers :p

well thats real easy for a fuge/sump!
nice idea... but doesnt the sand move around? and does the whole water level fluctuate from evaporation?

No sand in the fuge..just rocks, lots and lots of rocks (to which i actually let become live..sell or trade it, and put more dead rock in). And as for evaporation..not any more than any other tank :) I add about 5 gallons a week top off maybe...not more than that tho

everything in mine was even cheaper than that..lol Tank was $20..rock is free whenever i feel like picking it up, skimmer was found in garbage at a pet store (just missing vent, all it took was an e-mail to kent and they sent it free of charge) pumps came with tank originally ;)

BTW I wasnt digging in th garbage...lol I read electric meters and saw it sitting at the dumpster..lol
