Ran across this t5 light on amazon and was curious on what your thoughts about it are. It's a 30" Nova Extreme HO Light Fixture 2X24W. 1. 10,000K lamp and 1. 460nm Actinic. I'll be putting it on my 20L tank with it being 12" high. Would this be enough for some coral growth? If so what types, and most important if anyone has this already id like to hear about it, doesn't have to be the 30" model.

I have the 48" 4x54 and really like it. I have mostly softies with a few hard corals at the top of my tank with excellent growth. The stock bulbs are good, but I replaced mine for a bluer look. Put the lights and the fan on a timer and you are good to go!

Would it matter at all that its only 2X24, or because i'm only running a 20 gallon it would do the job? and what bulbs did you but in 14K or 20k?

If your planning on corals you may want to conisder a 4x24w instead. With the 2 bulb you would really be limiting what you can keep. IMO

It would limit placement options but you cold have just about anything you want.

One more bulb would set you up for whatever you want. 4 bulbs will allow a greater selection of bulbs to complete a good spectrum range.

After a couple of months replace the 10000K with an ATI Aquablue Special and the 460nm with an ATI Blue Plus.

If you can afford it get one from Reef Geeks. They have them with bulbs included so it will be cheaper than buying from two retailers. When you are ready to buy the light let us know what animals you want to keep and we give you a recommendation for bulbs to get.

Check out topdogsellers on Ebay. I bought a 17 in 150 W MH with 2 - 14W actinic T5s for my nano tank for $89. Works great. I haven't found anyone who can beat their prices.
