I have the Nova Extreme Pro, 6 bulb 48inch light fixture. I have yet to have any problems with it. All my corals are doing excellent and such. I have no experience with Tek so cannot say which is better (although i have heard Tek is the best one).

No, it has a single reflector that is contoured to the individual bulbs ;) They try to be really tricky with the wording on that ;)

have 2 tek lite arrays, 1 8x54 1 6x29 or whatever the 36" is, their great good lighting bulbs last a long time in them and no heat issues, not really anything else to say their as good as it gets you definitely get your moneys worth out of them

The Nova Extreme Pro does have individual reflectors, atleast for mine it does - maybe i got lucky. But each bulb has its own reflector, although the reflection material is all connected, there is a concave shape behind each bulb allowing for maximum reflectivity.
I am quite pleased with my lights, altho i want to get one or two of those red bulbs.

tek would seem to have a huge edge over the nova lights plus for 40 more dollars you can have a 8 bulb tek over the 6 buld nova. wrap it up. im sold

out of the two light comparison...which light tends to run cooler? does anyone have any PAR comparisons? when talking about quality what are we talking about...ballasts, wiring, sockets, aluminium housing, power supply, blue leds, fans? or everything overall?

Exactly. That is not individual reflectors. In the TEK unit each bulb has its EACH AND OWN INDIVIDUAL reflector. The difference this makes with PAR values is immense.

Okay, so i understand what the difference is now between individual reflectors, thanks packleader
. Im from Ontario and one of the LFS sold both fixtures. I was told that the Tek was a much higher quality fixture, but the 4 bulb Tek was 50 dollars more than the 6 bulb Nova extreme Pro. The NEP also came with mounting brackets whereas the Tek cost extra. Just being a University student, NEP seemed the appropriate decision. I have had the NEP running 4 months with no problems with anything. I can feel heat coming from the fans but im sure that is normal.
