    Sounds to me like your LFS may be hooked up or have an interest in the other company. If so that would be despicable. I have had Nova and Nova extreme (using it now) and never had any trouble and never heard of any problems and I am a member of 3 forums and do a lot of researching.

    I have had no problems with my Nova Extreme I used. However, I upgraded to a Tek and IMO, the Tek actually runs cooler even though it doesn't have a fan.

    I have no fan or splash guard...I find it cheesy that TEK is so high and then charges 25 extra for the Spalsh guard and 65 for the legs....

    I have a T5 Nova extreme and I think the light is garbage, but you get what you pay for I guess. My fan is dead, my lunar lights stopped working and the plastic on the inside is partially melted. I can see how this could be a fire hazard given the right conditions. Thank god my new Aquatic Life fixture is coming in today :D

    I was thinking the exact same thing. because my LFS just started selling this product and they didnt even have any in. so hes prob just seeing how good they are.

    I have never heard of any fire problems with them ,funny that your LFS carrys the one and not the NOVA, seems to me they just wanted the sale. I have seen and heard of MANY many reefers using the NOVA with out any real problems.
