I can say hi to everyone!

I've had freshwater systems since I was 8 (28 years ago!), but I only just now took the leap and set up the reef tank that I have wanted for years.

I've done a TON of research, so I promise to try to ask only informed questions. I apologize in advance if the occasional stupid question sneaks in though. ;-)

Here's pic of my set up so far. It's been up and running for about 36 hours. I still plan on moving the live rock around a bit, adding a little more of it, and adding some more live sand as well.

    Cheers.

There are no stupid questions...just stupid people. if you are stupid go away :)

What size tank is that. I like the corner overflow and the rockwork. Expect getting the rock how you want it to take a LONG time. Only took me 2 months lol.

    Thanks for the replies!

It's a 110 Gallon Tank (48"x18"x32"). I should have 250 lbs of live rock. I'm not sure I got it all in the delivery. Based on your expert opinions, and the size of the tank, does that look right?

I do have to fiddle with it a bit more, and add two or three more pieces at the top.

All in all, the set up went fairly smoothly. I did have one minor leak where I forgot to cement one of the pvc pipe fittings in the water return.

The biggest lesson I learned while setting up the tank is that the "Quietone" pump has to be one of the more ironically named products that I have ever purchased. ;-) I will have to buy a quieter one and keep the existing one as a spare.

with the rock so close to the sides, gonna tough to either clean, or stop from being a dead zone.

Agreed. When I first started my tank, I had to rearrange after finding out about this the hard way.

    Very nice rock work though
