I like ytour tank, my quietone 3000 is fairly silent but i did have to use neoprene to insulate it from touching the sump at all.

I may try that. At the moment, my tank stand is acting like a wooden speaker housing, and amplifying the sound.

If I install a stereo system in that room, I may work on an aquarium stand subwoofer mod because the acoustics are that good! LOL

On a more serious note, I've read some posts about other brands of pumps where the owners are never sure if they are on or not until they check the water flow. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for that sort of pump. The tank is very close to my living room... and the sound is negating my 7.2 home theatre set up.

Dont give up on that pump just yet. I thought the same exact thing....how in gods name can they name this thing quietone??? lol I have the 6000 and it was deafening. After 3 days I was just about to give up and just like that the noise was gone. No, I did not just get used to it. Its just not there...I guess the impeller has a break in period or something. But now, I have to feel the pump itself for vibration just to make sure its on, its that quiet. Stick it out for a week or so, maybe you will have the same luck I had.
