Ok so the emergency part is over but I wasn't sure where else to put this and it still needs to be delt with on my end asap.
This past weekend I did something stupid and crashed my tank killing all fish and all but a handfull of corals. We wont get into the stupidity here as I have felt with that enough from my wife, but need some advice on how to proceed from here.
Currently remaining coral and squalid clam are in a temp. QT tank.
Let's just say I need to completely re cycle the rock from the tank.
I had planned to just do this in the display tank Leaveing the survivors in the QT till done, but QT cant stay. I have no place strong enough to keep it out of the way to prevent other issues.
My thoughts are to move an eggcrate rack into the empty display tank and put corals and clam back here. Then "cook" cycle the rock in a dark rubbermaid with heater and flow. After this is done ,reading about 3 weeks online, move rock back to display.
Any thoughts? Will this work or just cause more problems.?
I Know nothing in this hobby is fast but I need suggestions on quickest way to safely ft rock and corals back into display tank together.
    Thanks

Soft cycle not really an option. The rock is dead, nothing left on it to try and save at this point. This rock will require a full cycle but I am hopeing to do it in a seperate container then just add to the tank without causeing another cycle

without wanting you to elaborate on what happened with the tank

can you tell us why you are certain the rock is dead and needs to be fully re cycled?

one suggestion you could consider is asking your closest LFS to accomodate your live stock for you, whilst you go about re cycling the DT
many LFS will provide this facility, if your a regular customer for example
this would take the pressure off you for a while

2nd suggestion, , see if you can purchase some cured live rock, or get some cured live rock from another local hobbyist set up in order to seed your rock faster

3rd suggestion , bottled bacteria product like Brightwells MB7 can facilitate a speedier maturation (IMHE) meaning your livestock could be placed back in your DT sooner ( if it where my set up, I would still consider relocating stock to a facility like a trusted LFS in order their chances of surviving are increased during this period)

I'm sorry but not to dime you out, but to give good solid advice its gonna help to know what happened to know how to best determine a course of action. Going from there may present something to reduce your QT issues of shorten your courses of action.

I understand , just feel stupid and trying not to relive but her goes the short version.

After finally getting fed up with watching my corals and fish die and GHA take over I made a dumb drastic decision. I pulled all rock from the tank and boiled it to kill off everything and start over. I also removed the 2" sandbed from the tank.
Obviously a hasty and ill thought through plan as I am sure this caused an instant ammonia and other gas spike in the tank. The deathtoll from this fiasico stands at a toadstool leather, dendro colony, hammer colony , acan colony, pincushin urchin , clown fish, so far..others still dotn look good but hopefully will pull through.

So with the rock boiled and now out of the tank I am reasonbly sure I will need to recycle the rock prior to getting my livestock near it.

As for the LFS unfortuantely I have already been turned down.

My QT is just too big, a 40 breeder, with no stand. It is too heavy to put on top of a bookcase ( nearly 200lbs half full) which the reason I need to go back to DT and cure/cycle rock outside the tank .

I just want to make sure im not gonna kill everything off when I readd the rock
