Read this link, and the related ones following it:

The Sea Slug Forum - Hypselodoris bullocki

It will give you some info on the type of nudibranch you saw in the LFS, even if it's not the same species. Hypselodoris bullocki is quite variable in color, but there are some similarly colored ones that are different species. The difficulty feeding them is the same, regardless which chromodorid species you're referring to. They feed on one or a couple species of sponge, and it's currently impossible to get the required food sponges even if they are known, and in many cases, they are not. The pretty nudis start starving from the time you introduce them to your tank until they die. That usually takes a few months, depending on how long the animal has been starving before you get it.

As Dr. Rudman mentions, only the phyllidiids are likely to nuke your tank if they die or get stressed. The chromodorids probably won't.

    Cheers,

    Don

OK, if he tells you they eat algae or anything other than specific sponges, he's WRONG :)

    Cheers again,

Yeah, From what I hear those purple ones are the hardest to keep alive. The velvet nudibranch that's black and bright blue striped only eats flatworms.
