I don't have a camera handy, so I'm going to take a stab at an ID an see if anybody knows...

I bought a couple of nice colt coral frags today and about an hour after putting them in the tank (attached to the same rock), I noticed a couple of creatures that have me wondering. They both look to be nudibranch, as they are void of any type of shell. They are white, smooth on the top and look almost "fuzzy" on the sides. I think the most striking features are the 2 trumpet shaped openings on the top with bits of "fuzz" (looks like the sides) coming out of each one. I am pretty sure they are nudibranch, but fear they may not be coral safe. Any ideas?

I'll probably borrow my buddies camera again on Monday, I just gave it back this morning (of course).

    Thanks in advance,

Unfortunately, because there are so many different kinds of nudibranchs, even a picture would be difficult to i.d. When it comes to nudibranchs and such, my rule has always been "when it doubt, take it out". Chances are, if the nudi came in on a coral, that's what it eats so why take chances. Keep an eye open for eggs and/or baby nudis because it's common for them to lay eggs when they get stressed out (like when adjusting to new water conditions).

I agree if the nudi's came on the coral i would scour it for them and remove any you see.

The nudi's were hanging out on the rock the colts are attached to and really got nowhere near the coral itself. Anyway, they managed to scurry away before I had a chance to do anything about them. I'll keep an eye open for any damage. ;D

Well, I came home today and found one of the 2 colt frags on the sand. About an hour after the lights went out, I decided to check out the situation with a flashlight. I found the nudi, and about 4 of it's spawn. They are definitely munching on the colt frags. >:(

I've pulled them off and currently have them in a bowl of water. Question is, should I dump them in the fuge, or just be rid of the darned things? Is there a danger of them spawning in the water column?

Wonder if I can coax the loose frag to attach somewhere.

Ack!! Up to 8 in the bowl now! No wonder the colts haven't been doing well. I hope the colt can survive all of this air exposure from trying to pull them off.

I think I'm going to fish the other piece out and try to attach it to a rock with a rubber band. After I check it for nudis of course. I sure would feel better if I could locate my foxface in the process of this ;D
