Thank you to everyone that help me out in the process. Here is the original pondering thread.

Well after about a month of reading and deliberation I made my choice. I am getting a My Reef Creations MR-1 beckett style skimmer.

A little movie of a MR-1 in action form the site.

Well there was alot to think about. If you guys followed the other thread you guys noticed that I decide against getting a becketts because of noise and energy efficiency. It came down to the ASM G4 plus vs. MR-1. I was ready to go with the ASM but I would have to rebuild my sump to run it. That became less and less appealing. I even considered a Deltec at that point.

Then I meet a local reefer. We went in on a group snail buy and when I went over to his place to pick up my snails I got a change to check out his system. He was running a PM Bullet 2 on a Panworld pump. Holly Freaking Cow man!! That thing was impressive. Becketts were back in the running. Thing is it confirmed some of my fears about becketts. It was loud. His sump was set up in a closet so it wasn't a problem but mine would be in my living room about 5' from my couch so It had to be quieter. The thing is the MRC come with a air silenter standard.

I ended up going with the MR-1 with a GEN-X PCX30 external pressure rated pump. From what have read and been told the pressure rated pump is a must for the best performance out of a beckett skimmer. Good news is the PCX30 is only 65 watts so one on my biggest problem with becketts is not a problem. It should be here Monday the 21st so I am excited to get it.

I got it setup this moring. I am still waiting on my GEN-X PCX30. Gen-X hasn't drop shipped it. I would be SOL if not for a another local reefkeeper I meet a few weeks ago that is letting my borrow his MAG 12. The skimmer has only been running for 5 hour but man that thing is built like a tank. I was all worried about it beening loud and it is quieter than my old seaclone.
    Here is some pics.

That does look nice. Use it well. I see you didn't get the quick release.

I didn't see the point. The top still has the thumb screws so it is not a big advantage to have quick release on the bottom. Plus it blocks like 4" of bubble watching. Beside the holes are all key-holed and hand tightened so they don't take that long to remove. At 6 hours in it started skimming. I give it 24 hours and post a pic tomorrow. By the way everyone I have talked to said the MAG12 doesn't do this skimmer justice but it seem to already be kicking butt. I am wondering what the pressure rated pump will be like?

I thought the quick release looked like overkill too, but it just shows how much quality and thought they have built into it. BTW, I did take your post to heart. If the Nova doesn't check out on Friday I'm biting the bullet and going the the big boy with the extra injector for the 300.

Very nice!!! 300g is really beckett territory and MRC are built like a tank. The Nova is probably a good deal though. Funny thing is the MR-1 is about the same size as the Coralife but even with the measy MAG 12 it is putting around twice as much air and water thru it.

For kicks there was a Coralife 220 with a needle wheel on E-bay last night. It sold for $96 + $20 for shipping. I came inches from buying it to try on my 210. I figured if it didn't work, I could always upgrade my SeaClone 150 on the 72.

It would make a good skimmer for the 72 but doesn't nearly have enough kick to skimmer the 210.
