Nuked Rock

    This is weird.
    So it POURED here for about 1 hour and the LR was sitting on the concrete outside.
    I just picked it up and underneath each piece was this strange mustard color sludge. Not a ton of it, maybe a 1/4" spread out under each rock or less. WHAT THE HECK IS IT?

    Just thinking about it. It hasnt rained here in weeks and I think it may be an accumulation of pollen that just got trapped.

    obviously nothing that belongs in a reef. Id try to boiling it outta there?

    It could have been calcium carbonate saturated water, depending on the pH of the rain....that's actually fairly likely, since it dissolves under 7.8, and rainwater is usually close to 7.

    Could be pollen too.

    Really, I think it was pollen. But im soaking it in fresh water again tonight.
    I really don't need this rock in the tank so Im in no rush to add it.
