    I know you can do the whole bleach thing, but would boiling the live rock do the same thing? its only 10 lbs so it wouldn't be so hard to manage.

    I'd say yes as long as you boil it in a pot on the stove and not in the microwave. Definitely don't bake it unless you want a new kitchen.

    The air in some of the pockets won't be able to escape and causew the rock to explode.

    bleaching is still easier than boiling even with a smaller amount. Soak in 50/50 solution, rinse, soak in ro water with a dechlorinator, rinse, dry, soak in salt. BAM DONE!
