I bought 4 new acan frags last night and I'm curious to know what kind of growth i can get and how fast they will grow.

The plan is to target feed with cyclopeeze and mysis twice a week with supplemental feeding of Acan Plus every other day.

I'll be taking pics to update the thread every so often.

I have had many LPS but never an acan. so i bought 4 ;D;D. Ive got 6 T5s over my little biocube and have my acans on the sandbed on a frag rack for now. Any advice on best care for them or what worked for youwould be awsome.

    Nice adds!

IME they really don't enjoy too much flow and I haven't really pinpointed they're preference for lighting. I have a 5 head frag(dark purple and green) that's just fine in the lower 1/4 area of my tank and it's in a pretty well lit spot. My other frag(rainbow) has 2 larger heads and 5 coming in. It doesn't like lots of light at all. I wonder if their colors have anything to do with it?

They eat quick once feeding tentacles are out and I feed mine with daytime lamps on. Usually spray some food in they're general vicinity and wait 20 minutes for them to start opening up. They're feeding tentacles can Also be seen about 2 hours after all lights are out but I've never fed them in the dark. The one that doesn't like Lots of light is on my substrate and I have to cover it during feeding to keep my CUC from stealing! I feed my entire tank and spot feed with Rod's, just grab the larger pieces for the spot feedings. I only feed them twice a week.

Frag on the right was just introduced when I took this. Eventually it was moved.

My rainbow about two inches off the tank bottom. It's been moved since this due to lighting.

I've had the rainbow for two months now and it had 3 little ones growing off the side when I first bought it. Now it has two more and the original 3 are definitely larger. However my tank is young and has been through many changes the last two months. Changes in water chemistry, lighting, filtration, temperature. I'm sure in a well established system with more stability and more frequent feedings you can count on accelerated growth compared to what I've witnessed. It's also a testament to their hardiness. HTH

Acan plus looks intriguing. Might have to look into that.

IME, most of the red ones that I have like less light and have to stay on the bottom. I had a purple one similar to yours that liked it half way up, and it grew like crazy.

The Acan plus sounds similar to the Fauna Marin Acan/Zoa food. I have't used either, but a sinking particle food seems like a really good idea. I'm interested in the results.

BTW, the link shows a serious acan collection!

Great looking adds, I can attest to the reds liking/needing lower light.

the collection is pretty sweet but i dont think it's just a picture thread. people posted pics of how their corals looked after days or weeks of using acan plus.

those in that thread who use Acan plus seem to make a thick sauce from it and serve thick rather than a runny broadcast feed method.

Does anyone keep acans in a bit of a shaded area or mid to low in the tank with direct light???

dude your acans look sweet! thanks for sharing your pics and input on this gorgeous coral. I wanted every kind the guy had at the LFS(which is a lot) but these little guys aren`t cheap.

So nismo what are the lights you use in your tank and how deep are the acans from your lights.
