Oh dang. I am happy you're going SW but that looks wonderful as fresh too.

Just take some vinegar and wipe on the residue and let it sit, you might have to scrape but beware of scratches.

It was fun while it lasted, but my opinion only, planted tanks are a ton of work. I went planted as I didn't think I was ready for SW, but it's a lot of work, planting, trimming, fish digging out plants, nutrients, water changes, etc. I am hoping SW will be a little easier. Tank had Galaxy Rasboras, Coral Red pencils, and some other small fish. But no worries, I am not out of freshwater, I still have my 125G discus tank.

Thanks for the suggestions on vinegar, will be trying that this week.

Long time since an update. Doors are done. Went with a quick and cheap way of plywood and edge bending tape in cherry. Appreciate some thoughts.

I updated the first post with some new parts. Here's what I am thinking for the filtration. I wanted to get a ghost overflow, but seems reef savy isn't building them for the time being. I went with modular marine, they are building me a custom low profile overflow that will be 16" wide, 2x 1.5" bulkheads through the tank and 3x 1" bulkheads in the outer box. Will add Bean Animal setup to it, using mostly gloss-black furniture grade PVC parts. Return line will be 3/4". Can't wait for all the parts to come in already and start drilling the tank.

Can anyone comment on Reef Octopus 150-INT best water level? Manufacturer recommends 6-8", I read some people run it higher. My sump had 9.5" fixed water level. Will it work or is a shelf needed?

Hi Vlad - I believe I ran mine at that height when I had that skimmer. Oops wait, I had a different model of theirs.

Did you try the search in the footer? I just found a ton there on this skimmer.
    This thread might help:
