Hi Matt, thanks for the links, I've been reading a lot on it and saw some conflicting information, from 6, to 6.5, to 9, to even 5.5; so thus I thought I ask! :) will keep on reading and experimenting!

Overflow is finally here, and it's huge! Tomorrow should be a fun drilling day!! And then on to building a bean animal!!! :)

    So drilling sucked. :)

First hole I ever drilled in glass - 1.5" overflow bulkhead:

    Second - much better:

Third - should have been the easiest, did 2 already and 3rd is 3/4". Fail! :) thankfully large chip is on the outside:

Those don't look too bad - gaskets should cover them. Congrats! Did you water test them yet?

Yep, fully tested and up and running. I actually had a bigger issue with the bulkheads inside the overflow box, needed a lot of paste to make them not leak... Not too happy about that, but otherwise all good. Will add some pics soon.

Your overflow looks great. Nice work sir!
This has me a bit concerned. Where did you put this gaskets?

    Thanks Matt

Yep, read everything and installation is correct. Gaskets are on the frange side. The leaking I observed is on the inside thread, I even cleaned it fully and when I put the barb fitting inside of the bulkhead there was some movement. I just think they aren's quality components, but when I put in the thread adapter for the final assembly, it was a much better fit.

    5. Never support any pumps or piping from a bulkhead, always use supports so weight is not on a bulkhead and gasket causing differential stresses on the mating surfaces and leaks.

Thanks for the feedback. Yep, supports are in progress. :) But the leaking was there before the was any weight on them, and right now with one of them having a 1" true union ball valve, and the others having schedule 80 unions there are no leaks.but I do agree 100% with the statement.

In my scenario, I think it helps that the bulkheads and all of the weight are pointed down, there's minimal differential stress. But I am adding supports for additional benit and to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

Would there be any reason for me to go with Schedule 80 bulkheads?
