I don't want to remove it to measure for sure, but it's a little less then that and it's a good fit, no leaks. This one is actually a 3/4 return line kit from glass-holes, so both the bulkhead and the drill bit were provided by them.

Witnessed nature at it's best last night. $15 Emerald Crab was molting, sitting there motionless waiting for the exoskeleton to come off. Along comes a $1 hermit, thinking "Ummm, lunch". There goes my Emerald Crab. :)

Guys I have a problem with high nitrates. Not sure what's causing it, I don't have a lot of fish and don't feed often. I have 6 small fish total and feed every other day one cube of mysis shrimp. Test kit is by API, and nitrates are currently showing at 20-30ppm.

I added a bag of purigen, but was also wondering what else I could do to lower them?

How often are you doing water changes?

Weekly 6 gallons. I am a discus guy, so I am used to water changes. Should I increase the volume?

I do 15-20 gallon changes every week on my 75 gallon reef. Seems to keep things in check

It's been a while since I updated my build. I am mainly working on setting up the Apex, and controller board for it to hide the wiring.

    Here are some shots:

Hi gang, can someone please help me understand what's going on with my ORP reading? Yesterday my ORP reading maxed out at 457. At night when I got home I changed 16 gallons of water, my guess is between 20-22% total water volume of the tank. This morning my ORP is already at 460 at 9 am. Yesterday at the same exact time ORP was reading 400. This is a first large WC I did, I was expecting to see a drastic change in ORP reading to take me back into low 300s.

Thanks Corailline, yep, deff saw it before I got the ORP probe, was actually re-reading it this morning when I posted my question, but I am still confused as heck what to do about it. :) And I have to admin most of the article is way over my head. A couple of interesting points Randy raised in the article: Hi ORP kills bacteria. Well mine keeps on getting higher, and that's why I am getting worried. I am going away for a few weeks, and won't be doing any water changes...
