Nwb-110 problems

I've got a reef octopus nwb-110. Been running it about 6 months and so far im disappointed in it.

First off I had problem with evaporation making me chase proper adjustments. I raised the baffle to give that chamber a more consistent water level. (Water level just under the output )

Now I get a horrible gunk build up within a few hours. To where the foam head stops overflowing. Then when I adjust it to compensate the gunk builds up more and its a never ending chase.

I can actually get a completely covered neck within 5-6 hours. And minimal skimmate.

Anyone have any suggestions?
