I decided to go more of a reef/community tank and once i learned how aggressive the eel would be, it really limits what else i could put in the tank, even though i think the snowflake eels are awesome, he would have to wait until the time when i have a tank for him.. Im really considering the chromis, there are a few at the lfs, i just dont want to spend money on some fish that might possibly kill each other. Is my tank a big enough size though for them? I read that they really need a big tank to thrive

i had 3 in a 55 it was fine. and they kill eachother for a few reasons. people dont bother with choosing the sex. you need only one male the rest have to be females. make sure there are enough hiding places and enough food they really like to eat! as long as you have all those things they shouldnt kill eachother. and the green/blue chromis are more aggressive towards eachother than the blue reef. they are more expensive and will have to order them most likely but IMO i think its worth it.

i got mine from liveaquaria. they made sure the sexs were correct and that they were compatible. had to wait a few weeks and the total was almost $100 for 3 of them and shipping. but very worth it. when i added a tilefish and my eel attacked it. he was badly hurt and his tail kept dipping down and he was almost falling right onto the eel. the chromis actually went under him and tried to hold him up!!!! it was the most amazing thing ive seen in my tank so far. if i wasnt so pissed at my eel it would have been a "proud mama" moment. they are amazing creatures. and continue to amaze me

Goby passed this morning :( knew it was going to happen eventually cause he wasnt eating... Since the last update ive added a spotted hawkfish, which i put into the qt tqnk yesterday as he was trying to kill my new royal gramma... Must have been very territorial.. dam lfs told me the hawkfish is a pretty docile fish, although i should have known otherwise just from its name and how it looks lol. Not sure what im going to do with him yet. So now the current stocking is:

    2 ocellaris clowns
    Royal gramma
    Coral banded shrimp
    Spotted hawkfish (in qt.)

    Coral:
    Goniopora
    Ring of saturn zoas
    Frogspawn
    Some form of xenia

Haven't been on here in a while so I figured I'd do a quick update.. I still have a huge hair algae problem that's been very up and down lately. I did a water change / cleaning today and managed to get out most of it. Stocking so far is 2 clowns and a royal gramma with a cb shrimp in the mix. There is a huge feather duster in there that seems to be doing well and the two corals I have now are a frogspawn which has grown two new heads since I got it and a Xenia. My main goal is to get this hair algae under wraps but it's the biggest pita ever!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Looks pretty darn good.

Have you tired any GFO or phosban for the GHA.

Some urchins do an excellent job of eating it, but they knock over unsecured corals. Abalone love it as well, same problem though.
