hey ive been using RC i got a bad batch. so decided to try something new.

so i got oceanic, i have not done my own test on the big 3 numbers. but reports from some other post i have read say it has a calcium level of around 580, and mag levels around 1600+ wouldn't levels this high be bad for your tank.??!

anyone use oceanic? how do you like it? what do your levels read?

why cant they just make the salt to the levels we like ither they go way over or fall way short?

I think they mix their batches assuming you don't dose, you have to replace consumption with water changes

hmmmmm. i am going to test it in a few. it says new formula so maybe they tweaked it a lil since the last posts.

honestly now that i look i do not see many good reviews on it. at least i did not buy the bucket. maybe if i mix it with the depleted rc salt it will put my parims right on.lol

    so i did some tests.

and at a sg of 1.024

    cal 500
    kh 7-8
    mag 1050 (tested 2x)

all the extra epsoms salts should bring the SG from 1.024-1.026
so i guess thats alright. and a lil baking soda for the kh.
those elements are easier to acquire, and cheaper than calcium so it could work out ok.

if after this 90 gal jug is done and i dont like it i am going to try coralife salt, seems a lot of people use it.
