just added the oceanic skimmer to my BC29. the skimmer has been running for a couple days. what can i expect from this skimmer as is in skimmate output? for color and consistency? here are some pics of what i am getting. the lighter stuff is from day one and the second from day two with the skimmer a little more dialed in.

I think if you wet skim you will get more of a yellowish skimmate and if you dry skim it will be more of a dark green (nasty) skim mate.

I would go a little dryer (or darker) myself.

I agree i would dry up that skim. That looks way to wet for me.

i know its wet, too wet. the skimmer is just an air pump driven one and the air flow control valve provided is not the easiest to adjust, i will be tinkering with it over the next week.

I have the same skimmer in my BC29 and my output looks pretty much the same. How do you "dry it up"? I was expecting a thicker output but so far it just looks like slightly dirty water. I have been fiddling with the annoying little air valve and don't seem to be able to get much of a difference in the bubbles being produced.

Is this just a poorly made skimmer? Are there better options to use within the BioCube? Are there reasonably priced skimmers that can be kept external to the tank (if that's even possible)?

    Thanks in advance.

Thats as good as its going to get though, in all honesty. Thats actually a much better result than most get with the oceanic skimmers. Keep an eye on your levels though. I am not sure about the 29, but on the two smaller ones you have to remove most of the mechanical filter to run the skimmer, so the end effect is actually worse.
