Well, just thought I would post something I saw my Ocellaris clowns doing yesterday. I looked in the tank and saw them fighting. Kind of. Then I looked closer. They weren't exactly fighting, but the female had the male's tail in her mouth and she was pulling him from the back of the tank to the front. He was wriggling around but not really trying to escape. Once she got him to the front of the tank, she let go and he started doing the submissive shaking that males do while she did little charges at him and nipped. Ever seen a mother pull her kid by the ear to get him/her to another room and scold? It was EXACTLY like that. Poor little dude. Couldn't believe my eyes.

Now thats funny. My clowns are still in the process of the female showing who is boss. Well the soon to be female anyway. But I have not seen her pull him by his tail like that.

ummm....sounds like you might be a grandpappa to eggs soon! When clowns mate they do a shakey dance like. The female will whip on the male and just do all sorts of stuff to him(I LIKE THE CLOWN WAY!!!) Then they do that shimmer and its true LOVE!

Dont expect the eggs to be anything but coral and fish food in that tank, but you might want to consider doing some research on clown breeding if you are interested in setting up a tank for it. I was going to do it with my picasso's but decided against it!

They have been doing the shakey dance for months now. I keep my eye open for eggs but have not seen any yet. When they lay them, I understand I have very little time to get them out of there into their own tank. I do not have that set up yet. I am a few weeks away from getting the basics set up and I am reading a book on breeding clowns right now. If they were to lay their eggs right now I would just observe and let the clutch die off......then wait for the next one. It is going to happen though.
