If left alone a single clown will become female. The female is always the more dominant and bigger one. When adding a second clown, be sure that it is smaller than the current one. This one will then become the male. All clowns are born with no determined sex. A male clown can switch and become the dominant female but once a clown has turned female, it cannot turn back to male.

Also, if you get very small clowns you can have more than 2. It's called a harem. The largest one will be the female, then the most dominant of the small ones will become the male. The rest will remain juveniles as long as the male and female are alive. If the female dies, the male will become the female and the most dominant juvenile will become the male. If the male dies, the female will remain the female and the most dominant juvenile will become the male.

 

This is great info. I just picked up two true percs and only knew they could change, but not that females could not change back.

just get them really young, one will become a female and the other will become a male. however i talked to a guy who breeds and he says keep them in 3s, one will become female, one will be a male and one just stays neutral :S
