OCs 3 years fine until now...

Well, after having a pair of OC clowns together for almost 3 years, I had to separate them today... They have been fine, but about a week ago started fighting and it just kept getting more vicious. I noticed that the males jaw was all white and swollen and had white peck makes all over, fins torn up etc...Literally every second the female was going after him and if it weren't for the screen top would have ended up on the floor several times. So, enough was enough and in the frag tank one goes... Don't know what happened. Stupid fish $@&#%

 

It happens, females just decide for some reason that male does not make the grade. In the wild an immature male would takes it's place and perhaps make a better donation to the gene pool.

Sounds like Human behavior to me!!! .....Sorry that happened.

 

I guess so. I like the coloration of the male better though. Brighter orange. The female is a misbar, but more of a darker redish orange. I would have preferred to put her in the frag tank, but couldn't catch the bugger.

Thanks. Usually at least with humans, someone, teachers, or police etc... step in when it gets to that point. I guess the malrnus wrasse seemed to be trying to break it up,but wasn't doing a very good job LOL.

 

Have they spawned at all yet?

 

Not that I ever noticed, but not sure that mean much...
