Hi guys, So my new Octopus bh100 came in the mail today. Everything is set up and running and im getting tons of micro bubbles in the tank(which is normal). But is it normal for the collection cup to not be collecting anything? even water? I had it set half way, but now I put it all the way down to see if I can pick up some water at least. Is this part normal during skimmer break in? Thanks!

yes it is a normal part, it can take a few days or a week to start working.

Thank you! Its been 3 days and the skimmer picked up a little of clear yellow stuff so it looks like its starting to work. But I never saw the bubbles high enough to flow into the cup. Does the skimmer continue to produce thick bubbles even if the tank is clean? If it doesn't, should I only leave the skimmer on for a few hours a day.?

leave it on 24/7 Anldyx IMHO

they dont produce foam constantly unless your tank is very dirty
but when they do start producing, turning them off is counter productive

Thanks Steve. That makes sense. I leave it on from 8AM to about 2AM. But I turn it off when I sleep, just because its a bit noisy.

I also did my first water change since adding the skimmer. After I did the water change, the skimmer caught lots and lots of white bubbles and filled up very quickly. Is this normal? The cup was set to half way, but now I set it to all the way up. Thanks in advance!
