Octopus diablo dc 200

Anyone have one of these? Have it set up on a new tank, 3 weeks old. Has not produced anything yet. How long does it take to break in? And is it possible there is not enough organic matter in the tank yet since I only have dry rock and only a few peices of live rock?

 

What's your tank size and bio load

 

150 gallon and only have 3 hermit crabs in it, still cycling.

 

That's why you don't have any skim mate. You will need more of a bio load

But to rule out a configuration issue - Got a pic of the skimmer in action? Might help here.

I'd think you may get some skimmate from a bunch of live rock.

 

150 pounds of dry live rock and only 5 pounds of live.

 

Ah that is not much live. Well then I certainly agree with johnny if it looks like it is running right to you.

 

It does seem to be running right. Been testing water daily, ammonia has spiked and gone to zero and today nitrite spiked. Maybe in a week or so I can add more livestock, but only a couple at a time.
