I have seen some advertising photos of this Octopus skimmer, but cannot find any reviews from anyone who has actually used it. Does anyone know anything about it? Can it be modded into a recirculating skimmer?

I also found this pic below:

It looks to have a bubble plate.

It is listed on Coral Vues web page, but no picture.

Any additional info would be great!

Octopus makes a pretty good recirculating skimmer. It's the dnw150. they work pretty well.

Yes, I know they make a good skimmer, but I have never seen this type before. I am use to seeing this type of skimmer from Oct:

I have been using one for about 5 months.I really like mine.Works good And I don't have to adjust it constantly.I'm not much of a mod. guy so I don't know about the recirculating thing.I have to empty my cup every other day.It removes some dark funky stuff.

I have an Octo 200 that works great on my system (total volume about 140 gallons) and it only has a couple of mods. The mesh mod and I also modded the air intake so that more air is introduced.

They can be made into recirc skimmers from what I hear, if you are careful not to break the body when drilling. But if you are planning to use this on the 36 gallon you have listed I cannot say that it would really be needed though. A 150 alone would be quite enough for that kind of water volume. A mesh mod would be a great plenty, and there is no risk of breaking your skimmer.

The plain answer to your question though is, yes, they can be converted. Good luck in what you decide on!
