Any one have any thoughts on the Octopus Pro 250 Skimmer. I was thinking about the bullet 2 but I am leaning towards a in sump skimmer. How does this compare to other skimmers and it is rated for 300 gallons. Would this be to much for a 120 gallon tank and large sump.

I think it would be perfect I am a big fan of Octopus skimmers thats the one I would get if I had the extra doe. IMO Id always go with in sump. And rember you could always use a smaller pump or a bal/gate valve to regulate the flow.

I dont have any personal experience with that particular skimmer, but I do have an octopus BH-100F HOB skimmer and I love it. Very easy to set-up and operate and works very, very well. Very well built, quality piece of equipment. I am currently trying to start a larger tank, and an octopus in the sump skimmer is what I was going to go with for that. Based on my experience with the HOB, I wouldnt hesitate to purchase another octopus skimmer of any model

i say go with it so we can have a review of it, plus i have a good gut feeling about it :)

edit: that ones only for up to 180 gallons, what about this one Reef Octopus Extreme 300 Protein Skimmer by CoralVue* - AquaCave its for 425 and around the same price. im not sure about the difference between the pro and the extreme, but extreme sounds more sporty. i have a even better gut feeling about this one;D

I recommend the Extreme series of their skimmers. Seem to be the best bang for your buck and they use low watts. A friend of mine has a 300 on a 180 gallon Heavy Bio Load and it works great.
