overflow box, or drill a hole in the back of the tank then install a bulkhead. both need a tube that flow down to the 10 gallon then a pump in the 10 gallon that pumps water back into the main tank.

    thats all a sump is

the hob's help for surface agitation, also, i'll proably fill them w/ LR rubble or carbon in media bags instead of the regular cartridges

ok i know you a little young for power tools. but it would really be cheaper if your dad already has power tools.

    overflow boxs cost some green.

if you really resistant toward drilling it may be better to go for a hob unit. i bought a overflow box when i started too didn't want to drill either. the box was kinda waste of money eventually every body goes drilled sometime. because for the amount of money for a quality Overflowbox, it just doesn't make sense to avoid drilling when setting up a new tank. so i would say save the sump for your next tank if money is tight

Yea, we have a whole garage full of tools. and we have the big glass bits too. another plus is i have a bunch of pvc stuff

EDIT: it helps when you love to do DIY projects like me. (rather not build a protein skimmer though)
