That was a big school of fish though. But octos don't normally sleep out in the open or anything...you'd think he had a den or cave or hideout nearby. But no. It was just a flat plain of sand.

And octos are inverts, meaning they don't have a spinal cord or any nervous system stuff that allows us humans and other mammal/vertebre stuff to "feel" pain. So I kinda think he didn't feel "pain". It just registered in his octo mind that he's getting jacked up and needs to escape.

Sorry you're wrong there...it's an animal and has a nervous system just no bones (hence an invertebrate, no vertebra/ spinal column). The nervous system is simpler but allows it to experience pain which usually means something is harmful and therefore needs to be avoided.

Nervous tissue underlies the ability to sense the environment, to move and react to stimuli, and to generate and control all behavior of an organism.

im not sure if they feel pain.he may have been crawling out in the open to die. this is common in octos as i understand it. also octos dont normally eat fish, well most of them anyway. hey prefer crabs. they only attack fish if theyr starving or becuase of territory or out of bordum.

They do feel pain. They have a nervous system. In fact, octopus even have brains. Ever wonder why they're considered the smartest invertebrate?

As stated all animals feel pain it is essential in avoiding harmful things...pain is a negative stimulus...the signals from a mate/potential mate a positive stimulus.

What they don't do is attach emotion to said stimulus.

So they feel pain, but don't "feel" it. That works :) haha
