    Odd Encrusting Gorgonian.

I got this from a friend of mine, very large piece (I have several frags too). This Coral changes color with lighting from pink to red to brown, also I have noticed it prefers lots of light (esp. atinic) and good water flow.

The pic below shows it after a full day worth of full spectrum 6 bulb T5 lighting, there is a 300 gph nano creating flow upon the coral itself. The algae you see is something I am experimenting with at the moment (food source). This piece of coral is 14 inches tall by 6 to 8 inches across- it is the Caribaeorum species, and Erythropodium genus. Opps almost forgot- thanks to Inwall for helping me figure this corlas ID.

Here are a few new shots from this morning, I hope this represents how this coral morphs it's coloration due to it's zooxanthellae contenet.

Cool! Definitely not something you see everyday :).

Curious as to what your algae experiment is. Send a PM if you'd rather keep the thread clean.

Howdy, not a problem to me at all.

To answer, I use natural sunlight as well as T5, so what I am attempting is to see if there is a connection between algae and critters vrs. light source and type of lighting used.

Most natural reef systems have tons of algae, so I am hoping that the three types I am keeping in this tank will help everything grow- as algae provides extra O2 content, and food source.

Let me know what ya think.
