odd occurrence...

So I awoke yesterday morning to a random bacteria bloom in my DT. Odd because I havent added any carbon source recently... other than the normal daily fish food. I did have a wrasse die in his sleep (underneath the sand) about a week ago and I didnt want to dig up my sand bed so i just left him in there.

But the weird part is that my frag tank (completely separate system) had a bloom at the same time also! The only thing in common between the two tanks is the air from the same room. I am very puzzled at the source so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

 

Is water source common between the two? Did you do a recent water change.

What about food, do you feed the same food to both tanks?

 

rodi is the same. I checked it and the reservoir is clear... I dont think there is any contamination in it.
No recent water changes in either tank and I do not feed the frag tank at all.

 

any way you might have had a power out and power back on overnight?

nope, power was on the whole time!

 

thats strange indeed. Any paint job done in your house (fumes)? Heater turned up? IDK. stumped.
